In order to investigate our topic and solve our inquiries – whether the Africans in Hong Kong find any language, societal and institutional barriers in conforming their identity in Hong Kong, what their language preference and attitudes are under different contexts and circumstances, and the reasons which caused these barriers to form, we have carried out extensive research and in-depth interview and analysis with 5 African migrant interviewees regarding their language and social aspects of their life in Hong Kong. In specific, the three aspects –  “Language use at workplace and family,” “Intermarriage,” and “Language preference and attitude’ are examined in our research project as we look into the language barriers that the African migrants are experiencing in Hong Kong.
